Symposium on Second Language Writing

SSLW2025 Online

Given SSLW’s mission to bring L2 writing teachers and researchers together, our conferences have traditionally been fully in-person events. However, due to visa restrictions affecting participants from the People’s Republic of China (PRC), SSLW2025 will include online presentations by presenters holding PRC passports.

Online Sessions. Opening ceremony, plenary sessions, and invited panel, as well as closing ceremony and SSLW2026 preview will be broadcast online in real time. Online concurrent sessions will be held Saturday afternoon (Taiwan Time/GMT+8). See the schedule below.

Eventbrite

Registration. Online sessions are open to all registered participants (in person as well as online). If you have not registered and would like to listen to online presentations only, click here for online non-presenter discount.

Sched

Once you are registered, you will receive an invitation from Sched (tickets@sched.com). You need to login to Sched in order to join online meeting rooms.

Platform. To join the online sessions, please download the Tencent Meeting app (in China) or Voov Meeting app (elsewhere).

How to Join. The link to the online meeting room will become available 10 minutes before the session. To join an online session, go to the session information at sslw2025.sched.com on the web (not the app) and click on the Video Stream button.

Presenters. If you are presenting:

  • Sign in at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time
  • Unmute yourself and start video
  • Share screen (if you are sharing your presentation slides)
  • Finish the presentation by the designated time.

Participants. Due to technological limitations, each virtual room is limited to 100 participants. All participants will be muted upon entering the room. If you have questions, you can unmute yourself or write them down in the chat space during the Q&A session.
