In July 2026, the Executive Committee of the National Council of Teachers of English voted to dissolve the Conference on College Composition and Communication, a conference that has historically played a central role in facilitating the development of writing studies. To discuss the situation and its implications for the future of writing studies, SSLW2026 will host a lunch-time open meeting, to be facilitated by Jay Jordan.
