Thank you for agreeing to serve as part of the SSLW organizing team. Here are the instructions on how to set up the app and check people in using the app.
Accept the invitation to join SSLW from Eventbrite
Your email has been added to the SSLW team on Eventbrite, and an invitation was sent to you from Eventbrite (noreply@event.eventbrite.com) with the title, “You have been invited to join Symposium on Second Language Writing.”
- Click on the “Get Started” button.
- Log into your Eventbrite account using the same email you used to register for SSLW. (It’s also the email address where the invitation was sent.
- When you see “Ready to join?” on the screen, click on the “Accept” button.
If you can’t find the invitation email, please email Paul at pmatsuda@asu.edu.

Download the Eventbrite Organizer app
The Eventbrite Organizer app is available for iOS and Android devices. Your device must meet the following requirements (as of October 1, 2025):
- iOS: 15.0 or later
- Android: 8.0 or later

Log in and navigate the app
Open the app and log in to your Eventbrite account. For your login ID, use the same email address you used to register for SSLW2026. It is also the address where you received the invitation to join the team.
The first time you log in, you’ll need to select your organization (Symposium on Second Language Writing) and event (SSLW2026).
If the organization or event does not show up on the app, contact Paul.
If you are successful so far, you will see the list of participants on the screen. To test it out, search for your name by typing in the first three letters of your last name and press “Check In.” Congratulations—you have been checked into SSLW2026!
To check people in
1. Open the Eventbrite Organizer app.
2. Check people in with the app:

- Make sure the participant is at the correct station (pre-registration/correct letter, on-site registration).
- If the participant has a QR code, click on the orange Scan QR button and scan the QR code.
- If the participant does not have a QR code, search with the first three letters of their last name and ask the participant to verify their name on the screen. Press “Check In.”
3. Locate the name tag and hand it to the participant.
- The name tags are organized in alphabetical order by the last name.
- Some of the people have their last name at the beginning.
- For on-site registration, hand them a blank name tag and ask them to write in their name.
Problem Solving
- If a participant has not registered yet, show them the QR code for on-site registration and ask them to register online first.
- If a participant has a problem registering or have questions about payment, send them to Paul.
