Japan Visa

Participants from countries and regions that have visa exemption arrangements with Japan may generally enter Japan as Temporary Visitors and attend or present at the conference without obtaining a visa in advance. Participants who require a visa should apply for the appropriate Temporary Visitor (Short-Term Stay) visa or follow the instructions provided by the Japanese embassy or consulate with jurisdiction over their place of residence.

Visa requirements and application procedures vary depending on nationality, citizenship, and country or region of residence. Participants are responsible for determining the applicable requirements and obtaining the appropriate visa before traveling to Japan. We recommend consulting the official resources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the website of the Japanese embassy or consulate serving your place of residence.

Please note that the SSLW2026 Organizing Committee cannot provide a Letter of Guarantee (身元保証書) or act as a financial guarantor for conference participants. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses, accommodation, living expenses, and other costs associated with attending the conference. While a Letter of Guarantee is not ordinarily required for self-funded participants attending an academic conference, visa requirements are determined by the Japanese embassy or consulate processing each application.
